Writing Workshops

As part of our residency at the Bike Shed we’re offering a couple of completely free writing workshops. Want to know more? Here we go…

Saturday 11th October, 11.00am – 1.00pm, Bike Shed Theatre WBN Workshop: Telling the Story the Way Your Character Wants To Tell It

Write By Numbers have created performances using the form of travelogues, lectures, lists and, in their latest show Blueprint, an alternate biography. During this workshop, led by WBN’s Corinne Furness, we’ll explore the different ways that form and structure can explore character and theme and you’ll have the chance to create your own short plays using some of the techniques.

Saturday 18th October, 11.00am – 1.00pm, Bike Shed Theatre WBN Workshop: Alternative Dramaturgies

Write By Numbers makes new writing shows which challenge what we mean by ‘new writing’. In this workshop, led by WBN’s Charlie Whitworth, we’ll explore plays which don’t conform to the idea of ‘the well made play’ and consider how alternative dramaturgies can enable you to explore impossible ideas on stage.

Workshop places are free but need to be booked in advance by emailing literary@writebynumbers.co.uk.

Following on from both workshops there will be a 2pm performance of Blueprint, WBN’s latest show developed with support from Arts Council England and the Bike Shed. Workshop participants are eligible for £8 tickets for these performances.

Supported by Arts Council England through Grants for the Arts.
