Write By Numbers are looking for performers for our three-hander 90 minute play REGENERATION, which will be premièring on Saturday 23rd May at Rich Mix. This may be followed by dates during 25th May – 30th May outside of London. We’re looking for one male and one female performer, 18-40.
Regeneration is our playful, epic and urgent exploration of urban regeneration, gentrification and what makes us call a place ‘home’ as we invite audiences to join us in imagining how we might together create the cities of the future. You can find out more about the show here.
WBN are looking for multi-skilled performers who are comfortable in working in many styles – from naturalistic drama to storytelling to verbatim. The performer will play multiple characters, with all three cast members having equal weight in regards to lines and performing time (there will be a lot of lines to learn!). Performers will be collaborating with the writers and director to help shape elements of the script and interest and experience in that is desirable. Performers interested in Regeneration Projects, Gentrification and the Housing Crisis probably mean the subject matter will be right up the applicants street. This play probably is not for Actors who want to escape into one character of a naturalistic play.
Rehearsal periods will be as flexible as possible to work around performers schedules, but with a commitment to focus on the project during Monday 18th May – Saturday 23rd May.Rehearsals will start in the middle of April.
The project is awaiting a decision on ACE funding, which if received would mean all performers would be paid two weeks work at the ITC rate. Applicants need to be able to commit before this decision however, and only some expenses will be possible if funding is not given (if there are non London dates, accommodation and travel will be covered). As part of our company policy we operate an open accounting system.
This project is an exciting opportunity to work with an emerging new writing company. We are looking to increase our pool of performers to work with – not just for this project but for future projects as well. Whilst we cannot guarantee payment, we hope that this project will be the start of a long term working relationship which will lead to paid work for all involved. All Write By Numbers projects so far have led to funded work further down the proverbial road.
Auditions will take place on Wednesday 1st April & Wednesday 8th April. A read through of the script will take place with successful applicants on either Monday 13th or Tuesday 14th April.
